1 Killed as Troops Foil Robbery in Plateau

Troops of Operation Safe Haven have eliminated one armed robber in Plateau State.

But several other robbers escaped with injuries after a heavy gunfire with troops, who foiled their robbery operation along Bokkos-Barkin Ladi Road.

Maj. Gen. John Enenche, in a statement, said troops deployed at Kuba responded to a distress call on a robbery operation along the road on Friday, by swiftly mobilizing to the scene, and had contact with the criminals.

Enenche, Coordinator of the Defence Media Operations (DMO), said troops overwhelmed the robbers and neutralized one, while others escaped with gunshot wounds, during the encounter.

He added: “Items recovered include one locally fabricated rifle, 2 mobile handsets, 4 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and one jack knife. Currently the gallant troops have maintained vigilance in the general area to deny criminals freedom of action.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in furtherance of the objective of restoring peace and security in country will sustain the offensive against all enemies of our nation.”
