Troops Overwhelm Bandits, Kill 2 on Highway
Two criminals have been killed along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway after troops of the Nigerian military engaged some bandits in a fierce gun duel, on Sunday.
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), in a statement, said troops deployed at Rijana acting on credible intelligence on the movement of some suspected bandits towards Abuja-Kaduna expressway, swiftly mobilized to the scene and laid ambush along the suspected bandit’s route.

According to the statement issued by Maj. Gen. John Enenche, Coordinator of the Defence Media Operations (DMO), contact was made, but troops overwhelmed the bandits with superior firepower.
The statement noted that two bandits were killed during the encounter, while several others escaped with gunshots wounds.
“Also, in the course of the encounter, two locally made guns were recovered. Currently, troops have continued to dominate the area with aggressive patrols to deny bandits freedom of action,” it said.
