NAF Jets Bombard Forest, Kill Bandits, Destroy ‘Meeting Point’

Scores of armed bandits at Kwaimbana Forest have been neutralized following air strikes executed by the Air Component of Operation Thunder Strike in Kaduna State.

The air onslaught, it was learnt, also destroyed a meeting venue of the criminals, at the forest.

A statement released by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Friday indicated that the ‘offensive’ operation was conducted on Thursday.

According to Maj. Gen. John Enenche, who issued the statement, a series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions had led to the identification of the hideout, along with a building in the centre of the area, which was being used by the armed bandits as meeting venue.

“Accordingly, the Air Component dispatched Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets and helicopter gunships to attack the location,” said Enenche, the Coordinator of the Defence Media Operations (DMO).

He added that the attack aircraft took turns in engaging the target area, scoring accurate hits which resulted in the damage of the building, as well as neutralization of several bandits.
