Katsina begin mass vaccination campaign against measles

The Katsina State government through its Primary Health Care Development Agency, PHCDA, said it has concluded arrangements to flag off what it called ‘’reactive vaccination campaign’’ against measles outbreak across the state.

The Executive Secretary, of the state PHCDA, Dr Shamsudeen Yahaya, told the Nation in an exclusive interview in katsina, that the four-day campaign will be targeted on areas that recorded outbreak of measles

He said ‘’we are not flagging it off for obvious reasons. It’s a targeted campaign based on where we record outbreak of measles that is why we call it “Reactive Vaccination’’

He called on parents and guardians to take their children and wards between 9 months to 5 years to identified areas and the nearest vaccination post to receive attention.

Investigation by The Nation, revealed that measles still remains a significant cause of death worldwide, despite the availability of a safe and effective vaccine

In a related health matter, Governor Aminu Bello Masari has called on the citizens of the state to return to the path of Allah for solutions to the COVID-19 pandemic facing the state

Masari who made the call at an event in Kurfi Local government area of the state, urged the people to observe all COVID-19 protocols to curtail further spread of Covid-19 in the state.
