Gunmen Kill 24 In Three Kaduna Communities

At least 24 people have been killed and several others injured after gunmen attacked three communities in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Chairman of the affected local government area, Elias Manza who confirmed the incident said the criminals first attacked Chibob village on Friday night, and killed nine people, while many houses were also burnt.

He also said that similar attacks were carried out by the gunmen in Sabon Kaura village where 15 people were also murdered in the night while the third attack at Ungwan Audu village on Sunday night also left several houses and farmlands burnt with many injured.

Manza has now appealed for the deployment of more security operatives to Zango Kataf in order to forestall further attacks on the community.

Meanwhile, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji have killed scores of bandits during a daring aggressive clearance operation in the northeast.

In a statement on Sunday, Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, said the success in furtherance of the operational mandate to decisively stamp banditry out of the North-West region.

He disclosed that the soldiers conducted the operation on Saturday following credible intelligence that armed bandits have rustled an unconfirmed number of cows around in Anka and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

According to the military spokesman, the troops also recovered 302 rustled cows and 412 sheep during the operation.
