DHQ Disclaims Report on Unmasking B’Haram Sponsors
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has described as misleading a publication in some media platforms, which quoted Maj. Gen. John Enenche, to have said that it is not the military’s duty to unravel the sponsors of Boko Haram insurgency.
Emergency Digest had reported that Maj. Gen. Enenche, Coordinator of the Media Operations (DMO), on Thursday, addressed defence correspondents in Abuja, on the operations of the Armed Forces, across the country.
DHQ, in a statement it issued via the DMO Coordinator, on Thursday, said: “The attention of the Defence Headquarters has been drawn to a publication in some quarters with the above caption attributing it to a statement made by the Coordinator Defence Media Operations.”

“For the records, the Coordinator (at the briefing) only explained that unraveling sponsors of Boko Haram, bandits and other criminal groups is the collective responsibility of the Intelligence fusion centre, where both the Defence Intelligence Agency, Department of State Service and National Intelligence Agency work in harmony, while kinetics of operations is handled by relevant components of the Military,” it added.
The DHQ, further explained that it is also on record that these agencies and the Armed Forces of Nigeria work together in all the Theatres of operations in the country.
“Recall also that recently, the Chief of Defence Staff even had National security meeting engagements with the various Heads of these security agencies and the Service Chiefs with a view to restrategising the ongoing war against criminal elements. The Coordinator was quoted out of context by some media sources.
“The publication is misleading and should therefore be disregarded. It is kindly advised that Journalists put in due diligence, to package stories in the right context before rushing to publish. We will remain accessible to the media for corroboration as well as verification of relevant news items. Thank you for your usual support and cooperation,” it said.
