Herdsman rapes woman to death in Kwara
A suspected herdsman, Nasiru Sarki, 20, has been remanded at the Mandala Correctional Service Centre for allegedly raping another cattle rearer, Maimuna Mohammed, to death in Lade, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The defendant, Sarki, was on Monday, docked before Magistrate Monisola Kamson of the state magistrate court for the offence of rape and culpable homicide contrary to section 283 and 221 of penal code law.
The deceased brother, Ibrahim Mohammed, was said to have reported the matter in police station after the cattle her sister took out for grazing returned to the camp without the rearer.

The search team raised by the community in respect of the matter, however, found the lifeless body of the deceased in the bush.
The defendant, during investigation, was arrested through the deceased’s phone he made away with after allegedly raping her.
The defendant was also reported to have confessed committing the crime during police interrogation.
The state prosecutor, Ayeni Gbenga, informed the court that the defendant is arraigned with motion expate.
He urged the court to administer law in discharging its descrectionary power over the matter.
Magistrate Kamson, who had earlier declined taking defendant’s plea for lack of jurisdiction, adjourned the matter to July 13, 2020.
