Pregnant woman dies of COVID-19 in Jigawa
The Jigawa government says it has recorded another death from COVID-19, bringing the number of deaths in the state to two.
Abba Zakari, the state commissioner for health, who broke the news, said the patient is a pregnant female who bled to death as a result of miscarriage she had at the state’s isolation centre.
“The state recorded the second death from a pregnant female patient, a resident of Miga Local Government Area of the state, who bled to death as a result of the miscarriage she had at the Dutse Isolation center,” Zakari said.
“She is said to be the wife of a Lagos returnee, a resident of Fanisau community in Dutse local government area, who died from the disease.”
The commissioner further said the deceased was initially admitted at two different health facilities in the state before she tested positive to COVID-19.
He added that the deceased had other underlying medical histories before she was said to have been infected by her husband after he returned from Lagos.
He said she has since been buried according to Islamic rites. The state recorded its first death from the disease a few days ago.
The state has confirmed seven cases of COVID-19.
