Covid-19 And Survival Of Retirees, By Daud Musa

The outbreak of CORONAVIRUS has brought the world to reality of its needs and wants. The elites, the ruling class have been feeding fat on the governed. Hospitals, schools and other social services based institutions were grounded before COVID-19.

Now that it is clear that we’re all vulnerable, semblance of what ideal environment with its plastic glitters is being put together as isolation centres.
Presidential Task Force, PTF on Covid-19 headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, is active. Part of its mandates is to support the vulnerable through this trying times.

However, a group that no one is thinking and talking about is those that retired (in the last one year) after meritorious service – retirees. Many are yet to receive repatriation allowance, National Housing Fund Contribution, not to mention their PENSION entitlement!

On behalf of the retirees, of which Mr President is one, attention should focus on this vulnerable class of the nation.
The SGF Boss Mustapha, known for his proactive nature should act in line with the desire of best wishes for the nation. The Head Of Service, Mrs Folashade Yemi-Esan known for her mother care should help Mr President to succeed. Ditto for the Director of Human Resources in The MDAs.

Getting data is simple. The data resides with PENCOM, PFAs and related MDAs. Retirees have dependants and dependants that are also in need of jobs.

It is imperative to do something positive to curb the casualty occasioned by lack of care.
Long live The Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Engr. Dauda .A. Musa, is a retiree.
