Coronavirus: No cause for alarm, NYSC DG assures corps members
The Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim has assured corps members nationwide of their security and safety following the advent of coronavirus in the country.
The DG gave the assurance Thursday during the commissioning of the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Mbaukwu/Umuawulu, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State by the governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano.
He said there had been no report in connection with the dreaded disease since the arrival of the corps members to their various states of deployment.
He said necessary measures have been put in place, including partnership with the Ministry of Health and other relevant bodies to ensure no negative reports were recorded across the camps.

He said, “So far so good, from the reports I’ve received nationwide, we’ve not had any problem. There’s no cause for alarm.
“Corps members are being educated and sensitized as all the necessary measures are being taken.
“Everyone is subjected to check from the entrance to the camp. I was also subjected to the same procedure. The Chief Judge who is going to administer the oat is also subjected. This is done across all the camps nationwide.
“We’re in serious partnership with the federal and state Ministry of Health; the medical personnel are all here to ensure safety precautions are followed. This synergy has been in existence from the inception of the scheme.”
Ibrahim called for more commitment on the part of the corps members especially with the recent increment of their monthly allowances by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He also urged them to be safety and security conscious and to avoid unnecessary travels throughout their service year.
