Buratai Tasks IBB Golf Club on Grassroots Mentorship Program
The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has tasked the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) International Golf and Country Club to launch grassroots mentorship programmes in the country, so as to identify and groom talents in the sport who will win laurels for Nigeria at international sporting tournaments.
General Buratai stated this when he received members of the Club led by the Vice Captain, Senator Emmanuel Anosike, at the Army Headquarters, Abuja on Wednesday, 11TH March, 2020.
He said the Nigerian Army and IBB Golf Club has had a long-standing relationship of mutual goodwill, and thanked the Vice Captain and his delegation for the visit while urging them to groom future Tiger Woods.
The Army Chief assured the team of working towards making the Army golfers become full members of the IBB Golf Club.

In his remark, the Vice Captain of the Club, Senator Emmanuel Anosike, said the team came to express gratitude to the COAS for the invaluable support he has been giving to the Club for years.
He applauded the Army Chief for the remarkable strides recorded by his men and troops in the fight against insurgency and other criminal elements across the country while soliciting for more support especially in regards to the forthcoming Captain’s Cup.
Anosike, who disclosed that the IBB Club has a world-class golf range in the country, advocated for Army golfers and called on officers who aim to be professional golfers to develop their skills.
He further appealed to the COAS to make necessary arrangement for Army golfers who are presently corporate members, to become fully certified members of their Golf Club.
At the end of the visit, the Chief of Army Staff was presented with a trophy that is crafted with the design of a player pose to hit a golf ball.
