Five Borno LGs are Boko Haram’s launching pads – Ahmed
The Borno state member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Baba Ahmed
said that Boko Haram insurgents are still launching attacks on soldiers, motorists
and civilians from five Local Government Areas.
The councils, according to him, include Abadam, Guzamala, Ngala, Marte
and Bama, located at south flank of Sambisa Forest and shores of Lake
Chad.
Ahmed in an interview Sunday in Maiduguri; disclosed that; “The truth
about claims of Theatre Commander on; no council area under Boko Haram
control is that; dozens of communities, military posts and civilians
are being attacked weekly.
“Even though the military is trying its best to end this war, there is
much to be done.
“President Buhari has last week directed the Service Chiefs, including
Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai to continue fight Boko
Haram in Northeast.”

He said the insurgents; are still hibernating in six council areas of
Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region.
“These are the truth and realities of Boko Haram insurgency that
continued to claim more lives and property not only in Borno, but
neighbouring states of Adamawa and Yobe.
“I’m responding to claims of theatre commander. As a patriotic citizen
and resident of Borno; that if insurgents are not occupying any part
of state, how could they launch attacks and killings of soldiers and
civilians?”
According to him, civilians and soldiers in the front-lines are being
killed on a weekly basis in the last three years.
He further disclosed that most of the attacks were being launched from
forest and shores of Lake Chad.
He said the three councils of Abadam, Marte and Guzamala are on the
shores of lake, including Baga, Kukawa and Monguno communities.
He however noted that with increased “zeal and moral boost” of troops
and other security agencies, they could end the war for peace to
reign.
