Police rescue 259 from torture house in Ibadan
Police in Nigeria has rescued hundreds of captives detained in a mosque in Ibadan, in the south-western Oyo state.
The captives were freed on Monday evening after police were tipped by a 17-year-old who had escaped from another detention facility in the area.
The owner of the facility and eight others have been arrested, the Punch newspaper reports.

State Commissioner of Police Mr. Shina Olukolu is quoted as saying that some victims have said they were held for years.
The conditions at the mosque were inhumane and some deaths went unreported, he is quoted as saying.
This is the latest raid of so-called rehabilitation centers in Nigeria where people are held in deplorable conditions, including being shackled.
Many are admitted to the institutions by their relatives in order to seek spiritual help and rehabilitation from drug abuse.
