Int’l NGOs providing classified information to Boko Haram in Borno, Civil Rights Group alleges

Emergency Digest – The Coalition for Good Governance and Change (CGGC), a renowned civil rights group, has claimed that some international Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) are passing classified military information to Boko Haram insurgents.

The CGGC in a statement issued on Monday claimed that the activities of some international NGOs in the northeastern part of the nation were becoming very worrisome, and called for a probe of some of those international NGOs working in Borno State.

According to the convener of the group, Princess Ajibola, the activities of the NGOs is making the war against insurgency difficult.

She said; “The activities of some of the NGOs encourage the terrorists to continue carrying out attacks against Nigerians, as well as help advance the ability of the terrorist group to recruit new fighters.

“The coalition, therefore, urged the National Assembly to take a definite stance against this threat to the nation,” Princess Ajibola added.

Recall recently that an NGO, Action Against Hunger was accused of similar offence, thereb endangering the lives of soldiers and becoming counterproductive to the war against insurgency in the region.
