Gunmen kill nine soldiers in Zamfara village
Nine soldiers posted to Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara for peacekeeping mission were killed by gunmen on Thursday.
The bodies of the deceased had been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, the state capital.
According to a source, some gunmen suspected to be Fulani bandits arrived on motorcycles and began to shoot at the soldiers stationed at Sunke village for peacekeeping mission and killed nine of them, injuring one.

It was gathered that the killing of the nine soldiers was connected to the killing of some bandits by the soldiers recently.
When contacted for comments, spokesperson for Operation Hadarin Daji in the state, Captain Oni Orisan, requested more time to speak on the issue. But he had yet to respond as of the time of filing this report.
A senior staff member of the Federal Medical Centre, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the bodies of the deceased were brought to the hospital’s mortuary on Thursday.
He added that another soldier was at the emergency ward where he was being treated for gunshot wounds.
