Troops Eliminate 12 insurgents in attempted Ambush
EMERGENCY DIGEST – Atleast, 12 Boko Haram militants were killed in two separate clashes with the Nigerian troops in Northeastern Nigeria over the weekend, military and militia sources, said on Sunday.
It was learnt that, five militants were killed on Saturday during a gun battle with the troops of the Multi National Joint Task Force(MNJTF), in Goni Sulomti village, along Damasak Road, of Mobar Local Government of Borno state.
The sources, who prefer anonymity, said the militants came through Bamma Bukarti, then Jilli village and accessed Goni Sulomti village, to attack two military formations.
But they were repelled by the defence forces of Nigeria and Chadian troops.
The sources, added that the troops also hotly chased two of the terrorists’ vehicles that struggled to escape and eliminated them.

“In the latest attack, the militants targeted the town of Gubio, on Sunday at about 6pm, but they were immediately intercepted, as the troops neutralised seven militants.
“We got the hint through a competent human intelligence sources that the militant were seen passing through Goni Sulomti village, Damasak and Mobbar LGAs.
“Consequently, the security agencies prepared and waited for the terrorists before eliminating them.
“Through the combined efforts of the ground troops and the air component of the Military’s Operation Lafiya Dole, the fighting troops destroyed three vehicles equipped with machine guns.
“Unfortunately, we lost a policeman and a civilian woman in the attack,” the sources concluded
Most of the assailants who stormed the town of Gubio were killed.
The town was calm and under the total control of the security agencies as dozens of residents who fled to the bush had return to their homes.
