Bandits attack Katsina village-head, abducts wife and children

The village head of Yandaka village in Batsari local government of Katsina state have been shot by bandits

The bandits also kidnapped the wife and three children of Shehu Iliyasu during the attack.

It was gathered that Iliyasu is in critical condition following a gunshot wound in his head and hand Some bandits on Saturday, August 31, launched an attack on Yandaka village in Batsari local government area of Katsina state, injuring the village head in the process.

The bandits during the attack also abducted the wife and three children of the village head from his residence.

The spokesperson for the Katisna Police command, Isah Gambo, while confirming the incident said: “It is true that he (the village head) was attacked and some of his children were kidnapped as well.” Daily Trust reports that Shehu Iliyasu was critically injured as he was said to have been shot in the head and hand.

Sources within the community said the village head was rushed to a hospital in Katsina but was later referred to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for a brain surgery.

A source said: “He is currently in a critical condition because of the bullet wounds.” Meanwhile, talkofnaija.com previously reported that a Catholic priest was killed by some gunmen in Kufai Amadu, Takum local government area of Taraba state.
