Bandits surrender undisclosed number of weapons
Repentant bandits in Zamfara State have started surrendering an undisclosed number of weapons in their possession, the state Commissioner of Police CP Usman Nagoggo has revealed.
Nagoggo disclosed that the police through the peace accord he initiated in the state has lowered the activities of banditry saying that the bandits and the vigilante groups have embraced themselves after the last peace three meetings organised by his command.

The commissioner explained that the bandits should not be afraid to show themselves to the police whenever they are invited for peace negotiation, pointing out that he had directed all stakeholders in both security and community leaders to suspend any aggressive action against the bandits even if they are seen riding on motorcycles or having a meeting.
Nagoggo who was speaking during a peace meeting organised at the Emir of Anka’s palace, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad, who doubles as the chairman, Zamfara state council of chiefs.
The emir disclosed that incidences of banditry that occurred in recent times around Anka Local Government of Zamfara State were perpetrated by strangers.
The emir who also urged traditional rulers in various communities not to report any peaceful movements of the bandits in their localities to the authorities also call on the vigilante not to attack them.
