Police parade 25 suspected criminals in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command on Thursday paraded 25 criminal suspects, who specialise in armed robbery, kidnapping, car snatching and cannibalization of stolen vehicles.

Parading the suspects at the headquarters of the command, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakem Busari, said the arrest was made possible through a proactive strategies rooted in intelligence-led policing and robust interaction with various strata of the communities in the state.

Busari said the duo of Martin Igwe and Emeka Okeke who specialised in cannibalizing of stolen vehicles and motorcyles were arrested following a tip-off that the suspects operate a warehouse at Felele in Lokoja with inscription of fowl feeds while they used the warehousing for storage of over 50 vehicle engines they stole in Kogi and other states.

Also paraded by the Commissioner of Police were Olobo Maha, Aminu Maha and Isiaka Sule, who were arrested in Lokoja for stealing motorcycles, while Ali Sule, Danjuma Isah and Musa Seidu were arrested for being in possession of illegal firearms at Ganaja village in Ajaokuta local government area Kogi State.

He noted that items recovered from them included one unregistered Qlink motorcycle, one baretta pistol, one revolver pistol and one locally made single barrel pistol.

Friday Abah and Ogbaje Solomon who robbed one Ojochenemi Baba of Emonoja Aludo village Ogugu in Olamoboro Local Government were paraded with one sharon car, two Honda motorcycles, one plasma TV , a decoder and fifteen handsets they allegedly stole from their victim’s house.

The Commissioner of Police further disclosed that the same suspects in the month of May , 2019 also robbed one Arinze Chukwu, a Manager of Chichidi filling station Okpo at gun point and carted away the sum of N229,000, saying investigation was on to arrest other members of the gang.

Also paraded were Jeremiah Abon and Samuel Oroile, who were nabbed for snatching a car belonging to one Mrs. Grace Gunwa living along Army Signal Lokoja.

Busari said the suspects were arrested following a report received from Mrs Gunwa that her driver went away with her car to unknown destination to sell the Kia car, adding that the suspect was arrested in Kaduna.

While noting that all the suspects would be charged to court after investigation, the Commissioner of Police said ” We are warning any person, who is in the possession of illegal firearms to surrender them to the nearest police stations, as any one caught will face the full wrath of the law.”
