Army officers wives donate food items to orphanages in Kaduna
The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) on Thursday donated various food items and other relief materials to three orphanages in Kaduna.
The president, Kaduna Chapter of NAOWA at 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Mrs Salamatu Yahaya, made the donations on behalf of the association.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the homes visited by the Association include: Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa Orphanage, Magajin Gari Orphanage, and Faith Works Orphanage Ministry.
NAN also reports that the association donated 15 bags of rice, three bags of millet, three bags of guinea corn, three bags of sugar and six cartons of milk to the orphanages.
Others are : six sacks of detergent, three cartons of soap, six jerry cans of vegetable oil and bed sheets.
The association said that it shared the items equally among the three orphanages.

The president of the Kaduna chapter of the association, Mrs Salamatu Yahaya, appealed to philanthropists and corporate bodies to assist the less privileged in the society.
Yahaya said that the visit to the homes was part of the association’s activities for the second quarter of the year.
She said that the gesture was informed by the association’s objective of reaching out and giving succour to the less privileged.
She maintained that such gesture would be replicated to widows in the barracks.
The association’s president also appealed to governments and non-governmental associations to accord priority to the less privileged no matter how little so as to give them a sense of belonging.
Responding, the Co-ordinator of Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa Orphanage, Hajiya Maryam Tahir, expressed gratitude to the association for the kind gesture, adding that it would remain indelible in their hearts.
