The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed Mrs Christiana Abiakam to Ondo State Command as its Commandant to oversee the forthcoming elections in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that new commandant was transfer from Bayelsa Command on election duties.

Briefing newsmen in Akure on Thursday, Abiakam said she was in the state was for the election and to ensure that there was no compromise during and after the exercise.

“I just came from Bayelsa Command for the election duties as a new commandant here in Ondo State though I was posted yesterday from headquarters.

“The swap is a strategy to ensure that there is no compromise because NSCDC is known for integrity.

“So, my plan is to ensure and collaborate with other sister agencies to give every electorate the freedom to come out and exercise their franchise,” she said.

The new commandant, therefore, warned officers and men of the command that they should abide by the rules and laws that guide elections in the country and shun whatever that could bring the name of corps into disrepute.

“I believe that all the personnel have already be warned adequately to ensure that they are not caught in electoral malpractices and anybody found culpable of electoral offence will face the full wrath of the law,” she said.

She, therefore, called on the people of the state to be law abiding and shun anything that could lead to violence during and after the election.

“The information reaching us is that Ondo State is a peaceful state and we must sustain and maintain it,” Abiakam said.
