VIO evacuates over 1,000 vehicles from roads in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO)  says it recovered 466 abandoned vehicles, 242 accident vehicles, 43 burnt vehicles and 253 vehicles causing road obstruction in the territory in 2018.

Mr Kalu Emetu, Public Relations Officer of the VIO, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that the second quarter of 2018 had the highest number of abandoned vehicles followed by the first quarter while the last quarter had the least.

“For burnt vehicles evacuated, the second quarter was highest followed by the third quarter, then the first quarter.

“The third quarter had the highest evacuated accident vehicles, followed by the second quarter, and the first quarter was least.

“The third quarter also recorded the highest number of vehicles causing obstruction; the second quarter was next and lastly, the first quarter,” he said.

Emetu said that the vehicles were evacuated from roads and taken to the agency’s office to await recovery from their owners.

He advised motorists to recover their vehicles as and when due as well as  desist from parking vehicles at restricted areas to avoid  road obstruction.
