Police raise alarm over alleged plan to disrupt elections in Jigawa
The Jigawa Police Command has alleged that some unscrupulous elements have hatched a plan to disrupt the upcoming general elections in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Abdu Jinjiri, in Dutse on Wednesday.
“Intelligence at the disposal of Jigawa Police Command has it that some unscrupulous elements in the state are planning to foment trouble so as to disrupt conduct of 2019 general election before, during and after the election.
“In this regard, the command in collaboration with sister security organizations across the state are working assiduously to fish out those troublemakers and their sponsors as well, conduct thorough investigation and charge them to court, to face the full wrath of the law,” Jinjiri said.

He explained that a Joint Operation Room of all security agencies had been set up to receive complaints from members of the public through dedicated Mobile lines.
“The lines also provide a platform for members of the public across the state to give information on the conduct of the elections so as to take necessary action.
“The dedicated lines are; 08075391069, 08057100000, 08088520528, 08088517047, 08166223705 and 09030622111,” he said.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Bala Sanchi, called on people in the state to go about their normal businesses and make judicious use of the GSM lines, prevent attempt by anyone to compromise the elections.
“In the same vein, the command wishes to inform people in the state that all unauthorized movements are restricted as from midnight of Friday 15, 2019.
“Only those on official and essential duties are allowed to be seen on the roads during the exercise,” Jinjiri added.
