2019 Elections: NSCDC to deploy 3, 600 personnel in Kaduna

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna Command, on Tuesday, said it would deploy no fewer than 3,600 personnel across the state for the upcoming general elections.

The state commandant, Modu Bunu made the disclosure in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Orndir Terzungwe.

Bunu said that deployment of the officers was part of the command’s strategies to ensure credible conduct of the election scheduled for Feb. 16 and March 2.

He tasked the corps to demonstrate professionalism in their conduct during the election, be transparent and shun any form of inducement from politicians.

“As security agents, we all have a duty to ensure level playing field for all political actors. There is every need to demonstrate this by creating conducive security environment before, during and after polls,’’ he said.

“Both local and international observers are looking unto us as critical and major stakeholders in 2019 elections.

“And we must do our best to shun any temptation which may jeopardise the trust, instead, work assiduously and professionally to justify the confidence reposed in us,’’ Bunu said.

He added that the NSCDC would work in synergy with other sister agencies to provide security for the electorate, officials and materials.
