NPS promises exemplary conduct of officers during elections
Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS), has promised that its officers and men will display exemplary conduct during the forthcoming general elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Presidential/National Assembly and the Governorship/State Assembly elections would hold on Feb. 16 and March 2 respectively.
The Controller of NPS, Enugu State Command, Mr Ndubuisi Ogbodo, gave the assurance while speaking with NAN in Enugu on Tuesday.
Ogbodo, who did not give the number of officers and men of the service deployed in the state, said that the command was sending a large number as demanded by INEC.
He said that the officers and men had gone through extensive election duty training organised by INEC and other agencies.

The controller said that the command had also organised series of in-house election duty trainings for its staff as a step-down training for all staff.
“We are well-prepared both through extensive training and motivation from the service concerning the elections and we are leaving no stone unturned.
“We are assuring Nigerians that prisons staff will show their normal integrity and dedication to serve on the election days in the state.
“We have made it clear that the command will not tolerate any form of misconduct from any personnel on election duty and we will sanction personnel involved in such misconduct appropriately,’’ he said.
Ogbodo, however, urged residents of Enugu State to come out en masse to exercise their civic duty by voting candidates of their choice without fear or favour.
“The Nigerian Prisons Service and other sister security agencies will provide adequate protection for all,’’ he said.
