NSCDC nabs 2 suspects, impounds tanker with suspected crude oil
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has arrested two suspects and impounded a truck loaded with 33,000 litres of suspected crude oil.
Mr Pedro Awili, NSCDC state commandant, made the disclosure when he presented the two suspects to newsmen on Thursday in Akure.
He said suspects were arrested with a truck and toying vehicle used for the illegal oil bunkering in the state.
Awili said that the truck, toying van and the two suspects were arrested on Jan. 19, along Benin/Lagos express way, Ore, in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
He said that investigations had shown that the tanker was coming from Port Hacourt to Lagos before it was intercepted.
He said that the driver of the vehicle escaped from the scene in Ore.
According to him, the two suspects are still under investigation and will be charge to court as soon as it concludes the investigation.
“The truck has the registration number: Lagos LSB 08 XM conveying 33,000 litres of suspected crude oil.
“The suspects and the exhibits will be charged to court upon completion of investigation by the command,” Awili said.
He, therefore, assured the general public that the corps would put more effort in bringing an end to illegal oil bunkering in the state.
Awili also warned individual and group to desist from dealing in illegal petroleum product or face the wrath of the law.(NAN)
