FCT Police Nab Fake AIG, Armed Robbers, Cultists
I am glad to inform you that the FCT Police Command in the last couple of weeks has recorded notable achievement in its fight against crime. This success is as a result of the proactive crime fighting measures deployed by the Command and cooperation we have been enjoying from residents.
It is also pertinent to state that, as part of security arrangement for a hitch-free Christmas celebration in the Federal Capital Territory, the Command has put in place proactive measures that will strengthen security at churches, recreational centres, shopping mall, etc.
Furthermore, I want to remind residents that the ban against the use of fireworks and knock out is still in place. Parents and guardians are therefore advised to warn their children and ward as disregard to this advice can lead to prosecution.
Below are some achievements of the Command in the last couple of weeks:-
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT
Following an on-going investigation, operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad attached to the Command have arrested one Ahmadu Adamu ‘m’ who attacked one Margret Nyitse on 18th March, 2018 at about 1830hrs in Pegi community, Kuje Area Council and cut off her left wrist with a cutlass. The suspect who has been on the run was arrested in Pegi on Friday 14th December, 2018 at about 2000hrs. He has made useful statement on how the crime was committed. Effort is being intensified to recover the victim’s hand-bag which was robbed by the suspect and the weapon used in committing the crime. Investigation is on-going
FOILED ROBBERY/ARREST OF SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF EXHIBIT
On 10th December, 2018 at about 2350hrs acting on tip-off, police operatives on stop and search duty at Oando Filling station Gwarimpa arrested one Ola Olusoji ‘m’ and Kola Akintola ‘m’ while trying to escape with a robbed ash coloured Toyota Corolla car. The suspects while committing the robbery operation, used a pair of scissors to stab the driver of the car, one Tony Wanah who was later certified dead by doctors at Kubwa General Hospital where he was rushed for medical attention. The victim’s car and the pair of scissors used for the robbery operation have been recovered. Investigation is on-going.
ARREST OF AN IMPERSONATOR
On 10th December, 2018 Police operatives from the Command have arrested one Olawole Michael Olatunji ‘m’ 58 years who has been parading himself as a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police. The suspect has hidden under the same pretext to defraud unsuspecting members of the public by offering to help them secure contracts with the Police Air-Wing. He was arrested at a bank in Kubwa where he had gone to make some financial transactions. In the course of investigation, fake Police Air-Wing receipts, fake contract documents, eleven ATM cards, Ten Cheque books and letter headed papers of different companies were recovered from him as exhibits. Investigation is on-going.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 1st December, 2018 at 0400hrs following a tip-off police operatives from Bwari Division arrested one Ezekiel Kuku ‘m’ 39 years and Monday Timothy ‘m’ 19 years at Kuchiko in Bwari Area Council while robbing residents of the area. One phone, two hair clippers and a pair of shoes robbed by the suspects have been recovered as exhibits. Also recovered from the suspects is one locally made pistol and one live cartridge used by the suspects for the armed robbery operation. Investigation is on-going.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTIST/RECOVERY OF FIREARM
On 21 October, 2018 at about 1900hrs following a tip-off police operatives from Gwagwalada Division arrested one Benjamin Segun ‘m’ 21 years with a locally made pistol, one live cartridge and one expended cartridge. The suspect is a member of Eiye confraternity cult group. Investigation has been concluded and suspect will soon be arraigned in court.
ARREST OF CAR SNATCHERS/RECOVERY OF FIREARM
On 8th December, 2018 acting on tip off police operatives arrested four members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate. The suspects who have been terrorising residents of Nyanya and Mararaba axis were arrested by the police operatives at their hideouts in New Karu area of Nasarawa State. The suspects arrested are: Francis David, ‘m’, Daniel Benjamin ‘m’, Emmanuel Okiti ‘m’ and Shedrach Andrew ‘m’. One locally made pistol and six live cartridges were recovered from the suspects as exhibits. Investigation is on-going.
ARREST OF SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 9th December, 2018 at about 0800hrs following a distress call, Police operatives from Galadimawa Division arrested one Damian Makondu ‘m’ 42 years and Ola Sunday ‘m’ 28 years at Bigmall Estate Galadimawa where they were trying to break into a house. The suspects are members of a notorious robbery syndicate which has been terrorising residents of Galadimawa, Apo resettlement, Lokogoma, Federal Housing Lugbe and Giri. Following their arrest, a discreet investigation was launched which led to the recovery of seven plasma television, two home theatre, one DVD player, one refrigerator, four hair clippers, five decoders, ten remote controls, two stabilisers and two pairs of shoes which were all suspected to have been stolen from apartments of their victims. Other exhibits recovered from them include: one cutter, one carpenter bar and one pinches. Investigation is on-going.
ARREST OF SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 18th December, 2018 at about 0200hrs acting on tip-off, Police operatives arrested one Abdul Aliyu ‘m’, Isiyaka Dahiru ‘m’, Safiyanu Anas ‘m’, Madasiru Sani ‘m’, and Yusuf Isma’il ‘m’ who have been vandalising armoured cables around Asokoro. Also arrested is one Moses Vongjen ‘m’, a private security guard, whose role is to provide security cover for the suspects. The receiver of the vandalised armoured cables one Hamisu Isma’il ‘m’ has also been arrested. The following were recovered from the suspects as exhibits: vandalised armoured cables, vandalised security light, charms, one scale, two diggers and one shovel. Investigation is on-going.
ARREST OF SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 22nd November, 2018 following an investigation into a written complaint, police operatives from the Command have arrested one Yakubu Luka ‘m’ 27 years, a private security guard, who broke into his master’s bedroom and stole cash in both foreign and local currencies amounting to One million four hundred and eighty five thousand naira (N 1,485,000.00) only. The suspect who was arrested after a discreet investigation at Apo confessed that he used the stolen money to buy: one golf 3 Volks Wagon car, one Hajo motorcycle, seven bundles of zinc and thirty-five (35) cartoons of floor tiles which were all recovered from Kikureni village of Kauru LGA of Kaduna State. The cash sum of 0ne hundred and forty-eight thousand eight hundred naira was also recovered from him. Investigation is still on going.
SECURITY ARRANGEMENT FOR CHRISTMAS
At this juncture, I want to reassure FCT residents that the Command has made adequate security deployment for the Christmas celebration. Some of the security measures put in place include: strategic deployment of both uniform and plain-clothe police operatives on foot and vehicular patrols, activation of stop and search and continuous raid of blackspots.
