UATH to Spend #218m on Accident and Emergency Unit Extension
The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, has embarked on the construction of an Accident and Emergency (A&E) unit Extension costing N218million only.
Performing the foundation laying ceremony of the facility recently in Abuja, the Honorable Minister of Health, Pr ofessor Isaac Adewole commended the Board of Management and the Chief Medical Director (CMD) Professor Bissallah A. Ekele for their thoughtfulness and foresight by embarking on the construction of such a project.
He also pledged that the Federal Ministry of Health would render necessary financial support to fast-track and ensure that the building was completed in Nine months.
In the same vein, the Minister was on hand to unveil a Plaque to commemorate the official Opening of the new 32 room House officers’ quarters at the Hospital.
Expressing satisfaction with the layout of the quarters, Adewole lauded the effort of the Hospital’s Management team for completing the construction of the quarters which started three years ago (in 2015).
Professor Adewole also noted the magnanimity of the CMD for not only completing a project started by his predecessors but also inviting them for the commissioning ceremony; adding that such gesture was in line with the spirit of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as government was continuum.
In his remark, the CMD applauded the Minister for all the assistance and encouragement the Hospital and Staff had received from his purposeful leadership. He nevertheless, appealed for more funds to enable the 350-bedded Hospital render better health care services to the Nigerian populace.
Responding on behalf of the House officers, an elated Dr. Oluma Adah Emmanual appreciated the Honorable Minister whose selfless leadership made the completion of the quarters possible, during his tenure.
The quarters, according to Dr. Emmanuel, would make their House job less stressful and memorable, in that, good accommodation/working environment was key for optimum service delivery.
Present at the events were the Chairman, Board of Management, Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, former CMD, UATH, Dr. Peter Alabi, and other management staff of the Hospital.
